The Charlotte Hornets invade the Staples Center to do battle with the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night.

The Charlotte Hornets have been in a bit of a funk as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to put a stop to a three-game skid after getting destroyed by the Kings in a humiliating 140-110 road loss on Friday. LaMelo Ball led the team with 24 points and 13 assists on nine of 14 shooting, Gordon Hayward led the scoring with 25 points on 10 of 17 shooting while Miles Bridges chipped in with just 10 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, allowing 41 points in the first quarter to fall behind big early, before getting blown out in the fourth quarter where they managed just 21 points. Terry Rozier continues to struggle as he finished with just nine points on three of 14 sooting.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers are starting to build some momentum now as they’ve won four of their past six games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Timberwolves in a 104-84 road win on Friday. Paul George led the team with 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, Reggie Jackson added 20 points while Ivica Zubac chipped in with 14 points, 14 rebounds and two steals. As a team, the Clippers shot just 40 percent from the field and six of 28 from the 3-point line as they struggled early and trailed by as many as 20 points, before taking over in the second half where they outscored the Timberwolves by 57-27 to make it look easy in the end.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games, 27-12-1 ATS in their last 40 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Clippers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record.

Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Hornets are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Hornets are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Los Angeles.

The Hornets are one of the coldest teams in the league right now and they’ve really struggled in their last two outings which have both resulted in double-digit losses, so it might not be the most ideal time to be taking on the Clippers who just routed the Timberwolves in their last outing. I might be tempted by the free points if the line was a little bigger, but the Hornets are only 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Los Angeles and I think that trend continues here as they get the win and cover.
