The Portland Trail Blazers play host to the Toronto Raptors at the Moda Center on Saturday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in rough shape as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Warriors in a 129-117 road loss last night. Fred VanVleet led the team in scoring with 28 points and 10 assists, Scottie Barnes added 24 points with six rebounds and five assists while Pascal Siakam chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they came out firing and stayed in the contest until the fourth quarter where Warriors finished with a flurry to run away with it in the end. Siakam had a rough night as he shot just eight of 26 from the field while Chris Boucher shot just two of nine from the field to finish with seven points off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in poor form as they’ve lost eight of their last 12 games overall, but they will be gunning for a third straight victory after beating the Jazz in a 134-124 win on Wednesday. Damian Lillard led the way with 60 points, seven rebounds and eight assists on 21 of 29 shooting, Jerami Grant added 19 points while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 16 points and nine assists. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 57 percent from the field and 17 of 36 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and scored just 19 points in the first quarter to fall behind by as many as 12 points, before they dominated the second and third quarters by 83-60 to make it look easy in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Trail Blazers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Raptors could be shorthanded again as Dalano Banton is listed as questionable, while the Trail Blazers are keeping an eye on Josh Hart and Jusuf Nurkic who are both listed as day to day. The Raptors were building a bit of momentum with a couple of wins in a row before they ran into the Warriors last night, while the Trail Blazers are finally starting to heat up again following their worst slump of the season. It’s hard to split these two teams at the moment, but the Trail Blazers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games and I think that trend continues here as the Trail Blazers cover the reasonable spread.
