The Denver Nuggets play host to the Dallas Mavericks at the Ball Arena on Tuesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost five of their past eight games, but they will be gunning for a third straight victory after blowing past the red-hot Suns in a 130-111 home win last night. Luka Doncic led the team with 33 points and eight assists, Spencer Dinwiddie added 21 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 17 points in just 23 minutes of action. As a team, the Mavericks shot 52 percent from the field and a sizzling 20 of 41 from the 3-point line as they dominated this one right from the start, exploding for 67 points in the first half to build a 27-point lead which was never challenged in the second half. The Mavericks haven’t been able to rely on their bench scorers this season, but they came good in this one as Christian Wood scored 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists while Josh Green tallied 16 points with five assists.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting thrashed by the Pelicans in a 121-106 road loss on Sunday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 32 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists, Aaron Gordon added 19 points on seven of 10 shooting while Jamal Murray chipped in with 18 points and five assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nice start to take the lead into halftime, but the long ball wasn’t falling in the second half and they kept turning the ball over to allow the Pelicans to rally with 34 points in the fourth quarter to run away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days rest and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Nuggets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Denver.
The Mavericks have been a little below their best lately, but they would’ve taken so much confidence from last night’s dominant win over the Suns for their third win in four games. The Nuggets have cooled off with back to back losses, but they are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, while the Mavericks are only 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days rest. This should be a close one, but I’m leaning towards the Nuggets to grind their way to a narrow win and cover in this spot.
