The Golden State Warriors and the Denver Nuggets duke it out at the Ball Arena on Monday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been in a major slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to stop a four-game slide after getting beaten by the Lakers in a 124-116 road loss on Saturday. Stephen Curry led the team with 30 points on 13 of 22 shooting, Jordan Poole added 23 points and five assists off the bench, Jonathan Kuminga scored 18 points while Andrew Wiggins chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Warriors shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line as they led for most of the game after exploding for 42 points in the second quarter, only to get run down in the fourth quarter where the Lakers outscored them by 35-22. Klay Thompson had a rough night as he scored just seven points on three of 13 shooting and no one could slow down the Lakers’ LeBron James who scorched them for 56 points.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in great shape as they’ve won 10 of their last 12 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after last night’s 138-130 overtime win over the Pelicans. Nikola Jokic led the team with a triple-double of 46 points with 12 rebounds, 11 assists and four blocks, Aaron Gordon added 28 points with eight rebounds and two blocks while Monte Morris chipped in with 18 points and eight assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 54 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 21-point lead, before having to rally back from an 11-point deficit and win the game in overtime. Jokic barely missed all night as he made 16 of 22 from the field, but he really had to carry the scoring load as the bench didn’t contribute much with DeMarcus Cousins scoring just one points while Austin Rivers finished scoreless.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 1-10-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Nuggets are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Warriors are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Warriors could really do with a win to get their season back on track, but they’re going to be shorthanded again as Andre Iguodala, Draymond Green, Gary Payton, Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry are al listed as out for this one. The Nuggets are still without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. while Will Barton is listed as questionable. The Nuggets are playing this one on zero days’ rest, but with the Warriors missing so many key players, I have to side with the Nuggets to get the win and cover at home in this spot.
