The Houston Rockets play host to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Toyota Center on Monday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Grizzlies in a 117-109 road loss on Friday. Joel Embiid led the team with 35 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, Tobias Harris added 21 points with 11 rebounds while Shake Milton chipped in with 17 points and five assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Grizzlies to explode for 35 points in the second quarter to fall behind by as many as 18 points before they rallied with 33 points in the fourth quarter to make it interesting late.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost five of their last eight games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Warriors in a 120-101 road loss on Saturday. Kevin Porter Jr. led the team with 20 points, Kenyon Martin Jr, Tari Eason and Jalen Green each scored 13 points while Alperen Sengun chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 44 percent from the field and a miserly three of 28 from the 3-point line as they did a nice job of cutting an early 17-point deficit to just six points, only to get blown out in the second half as they couldn’t slow the Warriors who shot an incredible 25 of 52 from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 8-18-1 ATS in their last 27 road games, 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games against a team below .400 and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Rockets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Houston and the 76ers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The 76ers will again be shorthanded as Tyrese Maxey is still out while Georges Niang is listed as questionable, but that shouldn’t worry them as they’re playing the Rockets who were ice-cold before collecting three wins in their last six games. The 76ers come into this one clearly as the team in better shape and they are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Rockets have been more competitive in recent games, but I’m still going with the 76ers to get the job done in this spot.
