The Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans collide at the Smoothie King Center on Monday night.

Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Rockets in a 106-95 road win last night. Stephen Curry led the team with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Klay Thompson added 19 points on seven of 12 shooting while Gary Payton chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Warriors shot just 43 percent from the field and 18 of 45 from the 3-point line, but they defended well, keeping the Rockets in check in the first half, before they restricted the Rockets to just 20 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and win comfortably.

New Orleans Pelicans

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans are still undefeated on the season as they are now gunning for a third straight victory after beating the Knicks in a 96-87 home win on Saturday. Brandon Ingram led the way with 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Zion Williamson added 24 points on 12 of 17 shooting while CJ McCollum chipped in with 12 points, seven assists and four steals. As a team, the Pelicans shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line, but they set up this win behind their defense as they were always in control after holding the Knicks to a miserly 12 points in the first quarter.

Peter’s Pick

The Warriors don’t have any players listed on the injury report, while the Pelicans will again be missing Naji Marshall, Jose Alverado and Trey Murphy. The Warriors have yet to really find their groove, but they certainly looked much better in last night’s solid win over the lowly Rockets. The Pelicans have hit the ground running this season as they’re healthy and they would’ve taken so much confidence from their win over the Knicks. You can make an argument for either side here, but I think the Pelicans are just a little more settled at this early stage of the season and I think they get the win and cover at home with this short line.

Joe Hall's Free Pick: New Orleans -3.5
