The Brooklyn Nets invade the FTX Arena to do battle with the Miami Heat on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in a terrible slump as they’re now looking to snap a 10-game losing streak after falling just short to the Wizards in a 113-112 road loss on Thursday. Kyrie Irving led the team in scoring with 31 points and six assists, Cam Thomas added 27 points while Blake Griffin chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Nets shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to cut a 13-point deficit to just one point in the final second before time ran out.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been on fire lately as they’ve won 13 of their past 18 games overall and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after routing the Pelicans in a 112-97 road win on Thursday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 29 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Jimmy Butler added 29 points with eight rebounds and four steals while Kyle Lowry chipped tallied a triple-double of 14 points with 11 rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Heat shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line, but this win was about their defense as they clamped down and held the Pelicans to just 42 points in the second half to break away and win easily in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-16-2 ATS in their last 23 games overall. The Heat are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 13-5-1 in the last 19 meetings overall and the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Miami.
The Nets will again be without Joe Harris and LaMarcus Aldridge while Andre Drummond, Seth Curry and Ben Simmons are all listed as questionable. The Heat are also missing a host of players including Markieff Morris and Victor Oladipo, while Tyler Herro and PJ Tucker are listed as questionable. The Nets are mired in their worst slump in recent seasons and they’re up against a Heat team who have continued to pile on the wins despite dealing with injuries all season. The Heat are clearly the team in better shape and I think they keep things rolling with a big win against the slumping Nets.
