The Atlanta Hawks have been in a funk as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum after outlasting the struggling Spurs in a 137-135 road win on Thursday. Trae Young led the team with 45 points and 14 assists on 15 of 29 shooting, Dejounte Murray added 24 points and five steals on 10 of 21 shooting while Bogdan Bogdanovic chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to an ugly start and trailed by 15 points in this one before they used a 30-12 run in the fourth quarter to escape with the much-needed win to improve to 9-9 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have been in great shape as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak snapped by the Bulls in a 120-113 overtime road loss on Thursday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 26 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks, Brook Lopez added 20 points, Malik Beasley scored 19 points while Damian Lillard chipped in with 18 points and 13 assists. As a team, the Bucks shot 44 percent from the field and 16 of 48 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 12-point deficit to force overtime where they went cold and scored just seven points to allow the Bulls off the hook. The Bucks really struggled to take care of the ball as they committed 21 turnovers with seven of those going to Lillard.

The Hawks have been playing well below their best lately and they were far from convincing in their narrow win over the slumping Spurs on Thursday, while the Bucks had win eight of nine games before they a painful overtime loss to the Bulls. These two teams last met on Oct 29 and it was the Bucks who won by 127-110, so while I think we should expect a closer contest, I’m sticking with the Bucks to get the win and cover again.
