Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Brewers were able to win two of three games versus the Seattle Mariners over the weekend, then split the first two games of this series versus the Reds. In game three on Wednesday, Milwaukee powered out a 7-2 victory. Starter Wade Miley put up 4.0 innings with one earned run.

In the starter role for the Thursday finale, the Brewers will send out Freddy Peralta. This year in two starts so far, Peralta is 1-0 with a 3.09 ERA and 15 Ks in 11.2 innings. Peralta is 43-27 with a 3.81 ERA in 148 games (99 starts) in his career. The Brewers will face the Orioles following this series.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Cincinnati side, they lost two of three to the New York Mets in their series last weekend. The Reds scored 15 runs over the first two games of this current set, and allowed 17 on the other side. On Wednesday Cincinnati was out-hit 6-4 in the loss. Hunter Greene managed 6.0 innings, six earned runs and nine strikeouts in his start.

As starting pitcher for the Thursday matchup it’ll be the Reds’ Nick Martinez. In two starts without a decision so far, Martinez has a 7.20 ERA and nine strikeouts in 10.0 innings. Martinez has a 27-38 career record with a 4.36 ERA in 200 games (89 starts).

Cincinnati Reds Team Facts

  • The Reds have won seven of their last eight games as underdogs following a loss.
  • The Reds have covered the run line in each of their last eight games as underdogs following a loss.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Reds’ last five Thursday day games against National League opponents.

Milwaukee Brewers Team Facts

  • The underdogs have won each of the Brewers’ last five games at Great American Ball Park.
  • The underdogs have covered the run line in each of the Brewers’ last six games at Great American Ball Park.
  • The Brewers have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last three games as road favorites against National League opponents.
  • The Brewers have led after 5 innings in each of their last eight day games.
  • The Brewers have led after 7 innings in each of their last five day games against National League opponents.

Brewers vs Reds Prediction

I’ll stay with the Brewers here. Peralta hasn’t been too bad in his first two starts so far. He posted one earned in 6.0 innings versus the Mets in his debut, then had three earned in 5.2 innings during a shakier start versus the Mariners. As for Martinez, he’s coming off five earned in 5.0 innings versus the Mets.

In the Wednesday matchup, the Brewers got two RBI from Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and Christian Yelich. It was a solid offensive outing overall, as six different players had a hit. I like Milwaukee to keep it going Thursday.
