Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers are 7-4 this year and they have lost three of their last four games. Detroit is coming off of a series split with the Pirates, where they lost game one by a score of 7-4 and won game two by a score of 5-3. The Detroit pitching staff has a 3.38 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, and a .207 opponent batting average. The Tigers offense has scored 38 runs with a .218 batting average and a .292 on base percentage. Riley Greene is batting .205 with three home runs and five RBI’s for the Tigers. The projected starting pitcher for Detroit is Tarik Skubal, who is 1-0 with a 2.92 ERA and a 0.73 WHIP over 12.1 innings pitched this year.

Twins Preview

The Minnesota Twins are 4-6 this season and they have lost four of their last five games. Minnesota is coming off of a series loss to the Dodgers, where they lost two out of three games, but they did win game three by a score of 3-2. The Minnesota pitching staff has a 3.68 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and a .242 opponent batting average. The Twins offense has scored 29 runs with a .184 batting average and a .285 on base percentage. Byron Buxton is batting .237 with 0 home runs and five RBI’s for the Twins. Detroit Tigers Team Facts

  • The Tigers have covered the run line each of their last 10 Thursday games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Tigers have trailed after 3 innings in four of their last five games as favorites against American League opponents.
  • The Tigers have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last four games.
  • The Tigers have led after 7 innings in each of their last eight day games at Comerica Park against AL Central opponents.

Minnesota Twins Team Facts

  • The underdogs have won each of the Twins’ last three games at Comerica Park.
  • The Twins have covered the run line in each of their last six games as road underdogs after playing the previous day.
  • The Twins have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last three road games.
  • The Twins have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last four games against American League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Twins have trailed after 7 innings in each of their last four day games against AL Central opponents.

Tigers vs Twins Prediction

Both of these teams come into this series struggling in recent games and both of the offenses need to be better. Detroit lost a three game series to Oakland last weekend, but they did bounce back with a series split with the Pirates. Minnesota snapped their four game losing streak with a win over the Dodgers on Wednesday, but they have scored three runs or fewer in five straight. Detroit is starting Tarik Skubal, who has allowed four earned runs over 12.1 innings against the A’s and White Sox. Minnesota is starting Pablo Lopez, who has allowed four earned runs over 12.2 innings against the Guardians and Royals. This should be a very good pitching matchup, but keep an eye on the weather, as it is supposed to rain all day. I don’t love either offense, but I am going to take the Tigers at home.
