The Memphis Grizzlies invade the Staples Center to do battle with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies haven't quite been at their best lately, but they will be feeling much better after snapping a four-game skid with a 130-114 home win over the Hornets on Wednesday. Kyle Anderson led the team with 27 points on 10 of 14 shooting, Dillon Brooks added 20 points on eight of 13 shooting while Desmond Bane and Grayson Allen each scored 18 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field and a sizzling 23 of 49 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 70 points in the first half, before pulling away behind their defense as they held the Hornets to just 15 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 23 points.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they've won nine of their past 11 games and they will be gunning for a season-high seventh straight win after edging out the Thunder in a 114-113 overtime loss on Wednesday. LeBron James led the team with 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists, Montrezl Harrell added 20 points on eight of 10 off the bech while Dennis Schroder chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 35 from the 3-point line as they started slow and trailed by as many as 20 points, before stealing the game in overtime behind their defense.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team above .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Los Angeles.
Anthony Davis sat out on Wednesday with Achilles tendonitis and is listed as questionable for Friday. The Grizzlies are a streaky young team, but they looked great in their win over the Hornets on Wednesday and are capable of pulling off the upset against the Lakers if they're not careful. I like the Lakers to stay hot with another win here, but the Grizzlies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and I think they can get the cover in this one.
