The San Antonio Spurs have been the coldest team in the league as they are now hoping to put an end to an 11-game losing streak after falling short to the Warriors in a 118-112 road loss on Friday. Devin Vassell led the team with 24 points on 10 of 19 shooting off the bench, Keldon Johnson tallied 22 points with 12 rebounds and four assists while Victor Wembanyama tallied 22 points with nine rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 47 from the 3-point line as they showed plenty of fight to stay within striking distance of the Warriors until the fourth quarter where the Warriors made a final push to snatch the game from them.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Rockets in a 105-86 road loss on Friday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 38 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 20 points while Michael Porter Jr. chipepd in with 14 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot a miserly 34 percent from the field and seven of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, scoring just 19 points in the first quarter to fall behind right away and they just never got into the contest as Jokic was the only source of reliable scoring in this game.

The Nuggets are still shorthanded with Jamal Murray out again and they are mired in a bit of a slump with just one win in their past five outings, so I think they will appreciate a matchup with a struggling team like the Spurs who can’t buy a win these days. The Spurs showed plenty of fight to keep it within single digits against the Warriors on Friday, but the Nuggets need a win to get their season back on track and I think they get it done here.
