The Washington Wizards and the Phoenix Suns duke it out at the Footprint Center on Tuesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been ice-cold lately as they’ve lost 13 of their last 14 games and they will be hoping to put an end to a 10-game losing streak after falling just short to the Lakers in a 119-117 road loss on Sunday. Bradley Beal led the team with 29 points on nine of 17 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 22 points with 16 rebounds while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 39 from the 3-point line as they recovered from a poor first half and clawed their way back from a 14-point deficit, only to come up just short in the end as Kuzma’s potential game-winner at the buzzer just bounced off the rim.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns look to have moved on from their ugly five-game losing streak as they are now aiming for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Lakers in a 130-104 home win last night. Chris Paul led the team with 28 points and eight assists on nine of 18 shooting, DeAndre Ayton added 21 points with 11 rebounds on nine of 11 shooting while Mikal Bridges chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Suns shot 49 percent from the field and a sizzling 20 of 39 from the 3-point line as they dominated this one right from the start, pouring in 68 points in the first half to open a double-digit lead which was never under threat in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 3-12-2 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Suns are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings overall and the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Wizards are again missing Rui Hachimura while the Suns have ruled out Devin Booker, Jock Landale and Cameron Payne once again. The Wizards are mired in their worst slump of the season, but they’re starting to get some troops back and they were more than competitive in their narrow loss to the Lakers in their last outing. The Suns have had their issues this season, but they are playing well at the moment despite the injuries piling up, so they start as heavy favorites here. I know the Suns are playing this one on zero days’ rest, but the Wizards have been a mess lately, so I’m backing the Suns to get the job done at home.
