The Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers duke it out at the Moda Center on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum in this one after putting a halt to a three-game skid with a 109-103 road win over the Warriors on Saturday. Dennis Schroder led the way with 26 points on seven of 12 shooting, Rui Hachimura added 16 points while Anthony Davis chipped in with 13 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Lakers shot 44 percent from the field and eight of 25 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Warriors in a low-scoring first half, before they poured in 34 points in the third quarter to pull away and escape with the gritty road win. Davis had a night to forget as he scored just 13 points on five of 19 shooting, but Schroder had one of his best games as a Lakers to make up for it.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last 10 games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after getting beaten by the Thunder in a 138-129 loss on Friday. Damian Lillard led the team with 38 points and nine assists on 10 of 18 shooting, Jerami Grant added 23 points while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 11 points and six assists on three of 14 shooting. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 55 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they poured in 37 points in the third quarter to take the lead, only to get blown out by 35-24 in the fourth quarter as they just had no answer for the Thunder’s Gilgeous-Alexander who barely missed all night.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 15-4 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a losing record, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Trail Blazers are 0-4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Portland and the Lakers are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Portland.
The Lakers could be shorthanded again as LeBron James is currently listed as questionable for this one, while the Trail Blazers are still missing Jusuf Nurkic and they are keeping an eye on Jerami Grant who is listed as questionable for this one. The Lakers were able to pull off the upset on the road against the Warriors thanks to a big game from Schroder, but if James isn’t able to suit up again, it’ll have to be Davis who steps up as this Trail Blazers team will be well-rested as they haven’t played since Friday. The Lakers are 15-4 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Portland, so I’ll lean towards the Lakers as the underdogs in this one.
