The Los Angeles Clippers invade the American Airlines Center to battle the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in decent form as they’ve split their last 10 games, but they will be eager to snap a two-game skid after getting thrashed by the Grizzlies in a 135-109 road loss on Tuesday. Isaiah Hartenstein led the team with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Norman Powell added 16 points while Robert Covington and Terance Mann each scored 14 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line, but they allowed the Grizzlies pour in 70 points in the first half and things only got worse in the third quarter where the deficit ballooned to 34 points.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won five of their past seven games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight win after blowing past the Pistons in a 116-86 home win on Tuesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 33 points and 11 assists, Jalen Brunson added 21 points while Trey Burke chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field and 18 of 36 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start and never let off until they built a 37-point lead.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Dallas, the Clippers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Dallas.
The Mavericks are going to be shorthanded once again as Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr are both out while Sterling Brown is listed as questionable. The Clippers look much better with the newly acquired Powell and Covington in the lineup, but it hasn’t yet translated into wins and I think they’re going to lose again as the Mavericks have really started to heat up lately thanks to Doncic who has been a triple-double threat every night. This should be a close one, but I’m sticking with the more consistent Mavericks to get the job done at home.
