The Philadelphia 76ers collide with the Orlando Magic from Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night.
Head to head, the Magic are 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings and 20-8 ATS in the last 28 meetings in Philadelphia while the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The 76ers are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Magic on the other hand are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 vs. NBA Atlantic, 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Man it's hard covering the Eastern Conference this season. There are so many bad teams, in fact, there are only two teams .500 or above, compared to 12 teams in the Western Conference. At 6-10, the Toronto Raptors would be the fourth seed in the playoffs if the season finished today, the fricken Toronto Raptors for crying out loud. We can thank the Atlantic Conference for that one. And what happened to teams like Cleveland, Detroit and Washington to an extent, they were all supposed to win around 40 games this season and contend for a playoff spot, which they still will probably do because the East is having such a down year.
Now, onto the game. These two teams have faced each other twice already this season, with Orlando coming away winners on both occasions by an average of 9.5 points. It has to be noted that both games were in Orlando and in the last meeting this time last week, the 76ers were without Spencer Hawes and Tony Wroten.
Both the 76ers and Magic are 5-5 at home in the early going, but a combined 2-13 on the road, so you automatically have to favor the team playing on their home floor. In reality, we have two bad teams going head-to-head so anything could really happen. Philly can be a pretty dangerous team at home and I think they get some payback on Orlando tonight. Not a game I would bet on though....
