The Portland Trail Blazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves duke it out at the Target Center on Saturday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to stop a three-game skid after getting routed by the Suns in a 120-90 road loss on Wednesday. Brandon Williams led the team in scoring with 14 points off the bench, Drew Eubanks and Trendon Watford each scored 13 points while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 11 points and six assists. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot just 38 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they went ice-cold and managed just 20 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 15 points going into halftime and things only got worse in the second half as the Suns just never let up.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in great form as they’ve won 11 of their last 15 games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after blowing past the Thunder in a 138-101 road win last night. Karl-Anthony Towns and Naz Reid each scored 20 points, Taurean Prince added 18 points while D’Angelo Russell chipped in with 17 points and seven assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 54 percent from the field and a sizzling 22 of 47 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 45 points in the second quarter to take full control of the game, before finishing with a flurry in the fourth quarter to make it a complete blowout.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Timberwolves are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 16-6 in the last 22 meetings in Minnesota, the Trail Blazers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Minnesota and the Trail Blazers are 41-17-2 ATS in the last 60 meetings overall.
The Trail Blazers are going to be shorthanded again as Josh Hart, Justise Winslow and Eric Bledsoe are all out while Brandon Williams is listed as day to day, while the Timberwolves will be Anthony Edwards who has been ruled out. The Trail Blazezrs could really do with a win to get their season back on track after such a bad loss to the Suns on Wednesday, but they’re just so banged up right now and they are only 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Minnesota, so I’m sticking with the Timberwolves to stay hot with another win at home.
