The Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets collide at the Toyota Center on Thursday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in red-hot form as they’ve won nine of their past 11 games overall and they will be eager to build on their current seven-game win streak after making light work of the Thunder in a 117-98 road win last night. Pascal Siakam led the team with 27 points, 16 rebounds and five assists, Fred VanVleet added 21 points with six assists, Scottie Barnes tallied 17 points while OG Anunoby chipped in with 15 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead, before running away with it in the third quarter where they held the Thunder to just 21 points to put the game to bed early.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in a rut as they’ve lost seven of their past eight games and they will be hoping to put an end to a three-game slide after getting routed by the Pelicans in a 110-97 road loss on Tuesday. Kevin Porter Jr. led the team in scoring with 27 points and five assists, Christian Wood added 19 points with nine rebounds while Jalen Green chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Rockets shot just 37 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Pelicans off to a quick start and were always trailing by double-digits after getting outscored by 64-53 in the first half. Kenyon Martin Jr. scored just four points on two of nine shooting while Garrison Matthews shot just one of six from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 8-1 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days’ rest and 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team below .400. The Rockets are 15-42 ATS in their last 57 home games, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 7-20 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Houston and the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Raptors have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league and they looked great in their dominant win over the Thunder last night, while the Rockets just haven’t been able to build any momentum as they’ve lost seven of their past eight games. It’s always tough to play on the second night of a back to back set, but the Raptors are an impressive 8-1 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days’ rest, so I’m backing them to stay hot with another win and cover over this slumping Rockets team.
