Fantasy Football 2014: Week 15 Start/Sit
Who to Start and Who to Sit in Fantasy Football Week 15
December 11, 2014
It’s Thursday, and there’s a lot going on in the fantasy football world today. This evening marks the beginning of Week 15 in the NFL, which is also the beginning of Week 2 in the fantasy football playoffs for many owners out there. That means it’s also time for our weekly Start/Sit recommendations, so let’s see if we can help to sway your opinion on some of the tough calls this week.
USA TODAY Sports
Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens: Flacco’s got a great matchup play this week, as he’ll be heading down to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. He’s usually not all that great away from Baltimore, but in the case of the dreadful Jags we can make an exception.
If you’re stringing quarterbacks or need a better-looking matchup this is one to look at for Week 15.
Latavius Murray, RB, Oakland Raiders: We love us some Murray this week. He’s got a lot of good things going for him heading into the matchup against Kansas City. In these two teams’ last meeting, Murray posted 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns--even though he only carried the ball four times.
The Chiefs have been pretty darn awful against the run recently, and Murray will be getting plenty of touches here.
Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina Panthers: Considering how many points the Panthers put up in Week 14, Benjamin’s production (24 yards and a TD) was something of a disappointment. That and the fact that QB Cam Newton won’t be playing have fantasy owners worried.
Enter the Buccaneers, who will travel to face the Panthers this week. They’re downright awful against opposing wide receivers, so Benjamin should thrive--no matter who’s throwing him the ball (it will be Derek Anderson for at least this week).
Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys: We’ve had a love-hate relationship with Romo this year, and in fantasy terms this week we’re on the “hate” side of the meter. Sure, he’s coming off a nice game against the Bears, but he’s got a pretty tough draw in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Romo hasn’t played too well in Philly over his career, and when you factor in the injuries--both old and new--we’re not so high on him right now.
Trent Richardson, RB, Indianapolis Colts: When Ahmad Bradshaw went down a few weeks back, some owners were speculating that Richardson would finally start paying off. He’s responded by being continually irrelevant--and even a worse fantasy option than fellow RB Dan Herron.
Richardson and company will face the Texans this week, which is a pretty crummy matchup regardless. Stay away.
Mike Wallace, WR, Miami Dolphins: We’re usually pretty high on Wallace, and he was a major let-down last week in a favorable matchup against the Ravens. He’s failed to go over 81 yards in any game this year, and has become completely touchdown-dependent.
Wallace’s failure to connect deep with Ryan Tannehill has been a major stopping point in the Dolphins offense. Factor in the emergence of the other receivers on the roster--and the fact that Darelle Revis will be on him in New England this week--and you’ve got a fantasy stinker on your hands.
